Spudman Run Course The 10k loop begins with a short steep hill and then levels to a mostly flat course. The run is on country roads and canal banks. The course is 70% asphalt, 30% gravel. The run begins at the bike transition area. You exit the transition area onto the golf course green and head toward the south where the homes adjacent to the golf course are located. The cours is mared with signs and it is hard to get lost when following other runners. There is a short but but mildly steep path up the hill leading to Churchill drive. This road is followed unto you reach the highway. After crossing the highway and railroad tracks, you take a left on Hillcrest road until 250 East (at the Burley Irrigation District office). Then a right onto 100 south is followed for just over 1/2 mile until a canal road is reached. Take this canal road until it reaches 150 East, then turn right. Follow this road until you reach Hillcrest road once again. You follow this street until reaching the place where you crossed the railroad tracks earlier in the race. Once you cross the back over the railroad tracks and the highway we used to simply retrace our outbound route back to the finish line. After you cross the highway, you will bear to the RIGHT on Churchill drive, and go around that pasture/drive way with the white fence passing you on your left arm. (I have some pictures somewhere I will try to post them here soon) You will circle around that driveway and then you will and will then be on the old return route FOR A SHORT DISTANCE. Instead of turning right to go down to the golf course the same way you came up, YOU WILL TURN RIGHT APPROXIMATELY, OH, 10 to 15 yards earlier. You will not decend onto the golf course in the same location. Instead you will be following a narrower, shorter, single track pathway that puts you onto the golf course close to the 9th hole green. The finish line from that point be straight ahead. You will finish on the grass before reaching the point where the grass hits the pavement at the corner of the fence. (I'll find some pictures!) For any of you who are nervous about finding your way, don't worry. There will be volunteers at key junctions to help you make the correct turns. (I hope) Note: It will not be easy to pass on that downhill single track decent to the golf course. You will have some room to pass folks once you hit the golf course grass but not as much as you used to with the former route. Plan your passing accordingly.
